Bullying, Depressio & Suicide in the bible

This topic is a very important subject to me personally and it is a matter of which happens a lot in today's world. Kids world wide are bullied, depressed and committing suicide because they feel they have no help, no support, that they are not loved or wanted, cared about in any since. I want everyone to read what the bible says about these subjects. I will start with Bullying because it's the first step, then I'll lead in to depression which is the second base of this problem, and lastly I'll talk about Suicide because it is the end result of our world for these to take their own lives because they have no one and nothing to live for and what the bible says what will happen to these kids and people will give them no hope even in the after life. So please STAND UP FOR THOSE VICTIMS!

Bullying can take many forms and can be effective on different levels but that doesn't make it any better or worse for what the out come can lead to. Kids in schools, online, at the park, work, anywhere they go, you go they are being bullied for many reasons and some of those top reasons are as followed, Religion & Beliefs, Gay, Straight, Lesbian, Bi Sexual & Transgendered, Looks & Appearance, Cool or Not Cool, Nerd, Geeks, Just simply being Smart, Having a Disability, Disease, Medical Problems and Not Fitting In, Skin Color. These are the top reason kids are being bullied everyday and why it leads to depression.

Depression it lowers their confidence, self-esteem, courage, happiness, and self worth. It makes these kids feel all those things even unwanted, ugly or to pretty, to skinny or to fat, to tall or to short, sexuality of any kind, the color of their skin, beliefs & religion, who's better or who's less, smarter or not smarter, not loved, wanted, cared about. Those are the effect that leads these kids to depression to them cutting themselves, starting to starve their bodies or over eat and load their bodies because they have been told to many times they are to fat or to skinny, they wish they were taller or shorter, smarter or not so smart, they weren't that skin tone, they were never born, that they can change their beliefs & religion, looks & appearance etc. The list goes on and on never ending. Kids are afraid to talk to friends, family, teachers, any adult about the bullying, abuse they take on daily at school or anywhere because they are afraid no one will care, will help them, protect them so they keep it all inside and they do what they feel is the only Freedom.

Suicide is the end freedom for the kids that have been through bullying , depression, the whole thing with out any help, no one caring, hearing their cries for help. For those that feel like committing suicide they think in their mind it's the only way it will ever stop, it frees me from the pain, the hurting, the depression, and so these kids go unheard and unseen planning their suicide with out anyone knowing and some just come home one day and do it with out planning. There is many ways kids and people commit suicide which is as followed- Hanging themselves, Shooting themselves, Jumping of the roof of their homes or school buildings, walking in front of on coming traffic and many other ways.

back in 2010 I kept up with suicide stories and those that of which I knew of where any where between 15-18 that happened back to back in weeks, those kids made national news. There is one out of all those kids that I hold close and dear to my heart for many reasons. I didn't know this young boy or his family but his story is what touched me the most. He is always thought about and missed. I remember ever detail of why he was bullied in school and the way he killed himself. He was a local Cypress kid that attend Hamilton Middle School, he was 13 years old in the 8th grade was bullied for being Buddhist, small for his age, not being into all the high cool electronics, not wearing the latest fashion but most of all he was made fun of because he was thought to have been Gay which he never came out until the morning of his death. He came out to his Step-father that morning before leaving to go get on the bus and that day after school he went home grabbed his father's gun and went and hid in his closet and shot himself in the head. His parents came home to find his small body laying on the floor of his closet, now if that story doesn't touch you in anyway. That's just wrong. His school claimed not to have gotten any reports from his teachers or anyone not even his parents. His name was Asher Brown and to this day he is remembered and miss and loved by those that knew him and that didn't.

Now I will share bible verses about Bullying, Depression, & Suicide.

Bullying biblical verses-

Matthew 5:11
God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me.

Deuteronomy 31:6
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.

2 Timothy 2:22
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Psalm 121:2
It will come from the Lord, who created the heavens and the earth.

Psalm 27:1
You, Lord, are the light that keeps me safe. I am not afraid of anyone. You protect me, and I have no fears.

Love Your Neighbor

Bullying goes against everything in the Bible. We are called to kindness. We are asked to be hospitable and look out for one another, so turning on another person does little to demonstrate God's love to one another:

1 John 3:15
If you hate each other, you are murderers, and we know that murderers do not have eternal life.

1 John 2:9
If we claim to be in the light and hate someone, we are still in the dark.

Mark 12:31
And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.

Romans 12:18
Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

James 4:11-12
My friends, don’t say cruel things about others! If you do, or if you condemn others, you are condemning God’s Law. And if you condemn the Law, you put yourself above the Law and refuse to obey either it or God who gave it. God is our judge, and he can save or destroy us. What right do you have to condemn anyone?

Matthew 7:12
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

Romans 15:7
Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.

Love Your Enemies

Some of the hardest people to love are those that hurt us. Yet God asks us to love our enemies. We may not like the behavior, but even that bully is still a bully. Does that mean we just let them continue to bully us? No. We still need to stand up against bullying and report the behavior, but it does mean learning to take the higher road:

Matthew 5:38-41
You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles.

Matthew 5:43-48
You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much.  If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 10:28
Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Leave the Vengeance to God

When someone bullies us, it can be tempting to retaliate in a similar manner. Yet God reminds us in His Word that we need to leave the vengeance to Him. We still need to report the bullying. We still need to stand up to those that bully others, but we should not retaliate in the same way. God brings us adults and authority figures to deal with the bully:

Leviticus 19:18
You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.

2 Timothy 1:7
God’s Spirit doesn’t make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control.

Romans 12:19-20
Dear friends, don’t try to get even. Let God take revenge. In the Scriptures the Lord says, “I am the one to take revenge and pay them back.” The Scriptures also say, “If your enemies are hungry, give them something to eat. And if they are thirsty, give them something to drink. This will be the same as piling burning coals on their heads.”

Proverbs 6:16-19
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

Matthew 7:2
For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.

2 Corinthians
1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

1 Peter 4:12-13
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
